ACM supports Michael Gisriel for Maryland House of Delegates

I have spent more than a few hours in Annapolis during my career in support of my clients and my company, but I have never publicly supported a candidate for elected office at any level. More importantly I have never asked my clients to support a candidate.

However, this year the lobbyist who has supported my efforts over the past seven years on a number of community association issues is running for the House of Delegates from the 12th Legislative District in Baltimore County.

Michael Gisriel has been instrumental in saving community managers and common interest communities millions of dollars since joining with us in Annapolis.  We need the support of legislators who understand the difficulties community boards face in governing their communities and Michael certainly has the background and experience needed to represent us in the House of Delegates. You can learn more about Michael's candidacy at:

ACM Board Member Training Seminar and Webinar

More than 70 Board Members joined us last week at ACM offices in Hanover on May 1 and via webinar on May 2, for our training opportunity, "Now I'm on the Board...What Next?"  We welcomed special guest presenter, Ursula Koenig Burgess, Attorney at Law with Rees Broome PC.

Ursula, who specializes in representing community associations and regularly teaches classes for CAI, presented a wealth of information, wisdom and best practices for Board Members.

As part of the program, ACM Team Members entertained Board Members with a skit of a mock Board Meeting, offering an interactive opportunity to identify effective ways to conduct a Board Meeting.

Guests also received a training manual of useful reference materials to take home.  Interested in an electronic copy of these materials?  Send an email request to srolf@communitymanagers.net.

Plant a Free Tree and Conserve Energy

BGE, through a partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, provides a limited number of free trees to BGE customers to help save energy, reduce energy bills and improve community tree canopies.

Scientists agree that properly planted trees could help to reduce your energy use through summer shading and slowing cold winter winds. As your trees grow, they have the potential to lower your energy bills by up to 15 to 30 percent.

For a limited time, free trees will be available on a first-come, first-served basis to BGE customers who agree to plant them in safe, energy-saving locations.

To reserve your free tree or to sign up on the waitlist:

•Go online and map out your house. Visit the Arbor Day Foundation’s easy-to-use, interactive online mapping tool. Just type in your address and the online tool will pull up a map of your house.
•Select the right tree for the right planting location. The online application will then help you determine the right trees to plant and the right places to plant them to save energy.
•Reserve your tree. After you select your tree and its safe, energy-saving location, simply press the reserve button.
•Tree is delivered directly to your home for planting. Two- to four-foot trees will be mailed from the Arbor Day Foundation nursery, directly to your home at the right time for planting with easy-to-follow instructions on how and where to plant them.

Customers are reminded to call 811 BEFORE digging to avoid hitting underground utilities. For more information, call 1-855-234-3801 between the business hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
