Come out to show your support for peaceful conflict resolution in Maryland.  Let others know that they can solve problems and resolve disputes by talking it out, getting help from a mediator or facilitator, participating in a community conference, or taking advantage of many other tools and resources provided by alternative (or, as Chief Judge Bell says, "appropriate") dispute resolution organizations and practitioners.
Exhibitors from various community mediation centers, community conferencing programs, support networks, juvenile services providers, and more will be sharing information about what they do to support and develop a culture of peaceful conflict resolution throughout our state.
Bring your family and friends!  There are plenty of fun things to see and explore along the 3K walk route around the Inner Harbor's promenade, including tall ships, a submarine, giant maps, a real light house, and more.  In addition, we'll have music, a face painter, and other children's activities at the main event site at Rash Field (201 Key Highway).
Plus, we're awarding prizes to
  • The walker with the coolest and most creative hat with a conflict resolution-theme
  • The walker who came from farthest away (bring your cousins!)
  • The largest group of walkers from one organization
  • The walker who finishes first (walking, not running!)
  • The most interesting tweet during the walk (#peacewalk)
In addition, everyone who visits all of the exhibit tables and gets a stamp in their Peace Walk Passport will be entered in a drawing to win a special prize.  And by the way, these aren't all cheesy prizes, either.  You could score a couple of tickets to the Baltimore Aquarium or the Maryland Science Center, an original framed collage of children's prize-winning conflict resolution art coveted by young and old alike, or maybe some other secret fun things that we're busy gathering just for you.
So what are you waiting for?  Register today!  Participation in the walk is free no matter what, but if you sign up by September 21, we will order a long-sleeved t-shirt in your size.
